“A Night at the Royal” – An Evening of Nostalgia Jazz and Dancing
Castlemaine Jazz Festival, in conjunction with V/Line, presents a full evening of big band and swing sounds from the 1920s – 1950s at Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal on Sunday 11 June from 7.00pm.
This is an exclusive Festival Finale event, with Guest Artist – internationally renowned Hetty Kate and the Festival Hot Five featuring: Ben Hanlon – Bass, Daimon Brunton – Trumpet, Peter Aumann – Tenor Sax, Andreana Micanova – Piano and Philippe Castermane – Drums.
Kicking off the evening to get everyone up and dancing will be the popular 13-piece High Society Jazz Orchestra from Wangaratta – one of our festival favourites!

After touring the States, Hetty is back in Australia to perform at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and is our special guest in Castlemaine as the 2017 Jazz Festival Master Class artist. Hetty has released eight solo albums, she has collaborated with Simon Tedeschi and James Morrison, and has toured extensively across the globe with performances in the USA, Europe, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia.
